Switching between miles and kilometres

Choose miles or kilometres for distance, pace and speed in NOYU, and what changes when you switch.

NOYU uses kilometres unless you choose miles.

To switch, go to Settings → Units and choose km or mi next to Distance. It saves straight away and applies to your account on the web and in the iOS app.

What changes

Your choice sets how distance, pace and speed are shown: kilometres, minutes per km and km/h, or miles, minutes per mile and mph. NOYU uses it too, in Chat and in new messages it sends you. Running splits follow your choice, one kilometre or one mile at a time.

New distance choices for planned workouts use your preferred unit. Short track intervals such as 400 m keep their distance in metres.

If Units isn't in your iOS settings, update the app. Older versions keep showing kilometres on their own screens.

What stays the same

  • Your data. NOYU keeps every workout as it was recorded, so you can switch back and forth without losing or changing anything.
  • Elevation. Climbing and altitude stay in metres.
  • Planned workouts. Switching units changes how an existing workout reads, keeping its prescribed distance.

Bests and milestones

Standard distances keep their names and exact lengths: 5 km, 10 km, 1 mile, half marathon and marathon are separate categories, whichever unit you choose. A 5 km best stays a 5 km best; its pace can read per mile.

Measured values such as your longest run and weekly distance follow your chosen unit.
