Rate the whole workout from 1 to 10 by how hard it felt overall, not by your hardest moment. 1 is very easy, 10 is the most you could have given. Pick the number that fits the session as a whole, a few minutes after you finish.
What each number means
| Rating | Label | Feels like |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Very easy | Barely more than resting |
| 2-3 | Easy | Comfortable, you could chat throughout |
| 4-5 | Moderate | Working, but you could hold a conversation in short sentences |
| 6-7 | Hard | Talking is difficult; you had to concentrate to keep going |
| 8-9 | Very hard | Close to your limit for much of the session |
| 10 | Max effort | Nothing left at the end |
Rate it the same way each time
- Rate the session you did, not the one you planned. An easy run that felt hard is a hard run.
- Think of the whole workout. A single tough interval in an otherwise easy session is still an easy session.
- Rate it soon after, while you still remember how it felt, but after your breathing has settled.
- Do not worry about being exact. A consistent rough number is more useful than a precise one you only log sometimes.
Where to add it
Open the workout from your activity history and choose Effort and notes. Tap a number, add a note if something stood out, such as a niggle, poor sleep or great legs, then save. Tap the same number again to clear it.
What NOYU does with it
NOYU reads your rating and your note alongside the workout when it looks back at your training with you, so it can tell a session that went to plan from one that felt harder than it should have. Your rating does not change any score or number on the workout itself.
For strength, this rates the whole session. Rating individual sets uses a different scale, described in how strength sessions work.
