An Action is something NOYU does for you on a schedule. A sleep report every morning at seven. A wind-down nudge at half nine. A one-off reminder on Friday.
Whatever an Action produces arrives in your chat like anything else NOYU sends.
They are not canned text
An Action stores an intent, not a message. When it fires, NOYU goes and reads your current data and writes something fresh. This is what makes them useful.
So a "morning sleep report" Action is not a template with your numbers dropped into it. Each morning NOYU looks at the night that just synced, compares it with your recent nights, and tells you what is worth saying. On a normal night that might be a sentence. After three bad nights it will say something different.
An Action always produces something. You asked for it, so silence would read as broken.
Two kinds
Featured Actions are ready-made and toggled on or off:
- Insights: Morning sleep report, Daily step report, Workout suggestion, Today's run weather, Tomorrow's run weather
- Reminders: Nightly wind-down, Morning supplements
- Check-ins: Evening check-in
These cannot be deleted, only switched off, since they are catalogue entries rather than things you created.
Custom Actions you create through the chat. Describe what you want, NOYU works out the shape with you, and you confirm. These can be edited or deleted.
Some examples that work:
- "Every Sunday evening, look at my training week and tell me what to focus on next week."
- "Remind me to take magnesium at 9pm on weekdays."
- "Check in with me on the 1st of each month about my weight trend."
- "Remind me about my blood test on Friday at 9am."
You can change any of them later by saying so. "Move my evening check-in to 10pm" or "stop the step report" both work, and so does asking "what actions do I have?".
One-offs disappear once they run
A one-off Action drops off your list the moment it fires. The message it produced stays in your chat, which is the thing you wanted.
We changed this after early access, when members found that fired one-off reminders piled up looking permanently "active".
Timezones
Action schedules run on UK time, with daylight saving handled automatically, so an Action set for 07:00 stays at 07:00 across the March and October changes.
What NOYU will not schedule
Custom Actions are checked when you create one. NOYU will not set up anything around a medical emergency or a mental health crisis, and it will point you somewhere appropriate instead.
Reminders about medication, questions about your results and check-ins on a health condition are all fine. The line is drawn at situations that need a person now, not a scheduled message later.
Actions are not everything NOYU sends
Actions are only the things you scheduled.
NOYU also reaches out on its own when something in your data is worth mentioning, and sends short updates when new data arrives. Those are separate, and covered in Messages from NOYU.
